Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 September 2026
This policy explains what Therian Shift does with your data. The short version: your photo is sent to an AI service to make your shift, it is not kept afterwards, and it is never used to train anyone's model.
Who we are
Therian Shift is operated from the United Kingdom. For UK GDPR purposes we are the data controller. Contact support@subsfan.com.
What we collect
- The photograph you choose. A picture of a person's face and body.
- Any animal reference picture you upload, and the animal name or extra instructions you type.
- The intensity you select.
- A random device identifier, and the time of each shift you make. These are used only to apply the daily limit and stop abuse. The identifier is not linked to your name, email or Apple Account.
We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, or advertising identifiers. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
Why we can use it
We process your photograph on the basis of your explicit consent, which the App asks for in a separate screen before any photo leaves your device. A photograph of an identifiable face is personal data, and where it reveals characteristics such as ethnicity it may be special category data — which is why consent is asked for on its own, and why declining still leaves the rest of the App usable.
You can withdraw consent at any time in the App's settings. Withdrawing does not affect processing that already happened.
Who it is shared with
To create a shift, your photograph and reference picture are sent to:
- our relay server, which passes the request on and returns the result; and
- a cloud AI image provider we contract with, which generates the image.
We describe the provider by category rather than by name, as UK GDPR Article 13 permits. Processing takes place in the United States under appropriate safeguards for international transfers. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone else.
How long it is kept
Your photograph is held only for as long as the generation takes, then discarded. The finished shift is saved on your device, not on our servers. Deleting the App deletes your shifts with it.
The device identifier and the times of your recent shifts are held in memory on our relay for 24 hours only, so the daily limit can be applied, and are discarded after that. They are not written to a database.
Training
Your photographs are not used to train AI models, by us or by our provider.
What we cannot promise
Once a photograph is with the AI provider it is governed by their systems as well as ours. We cannot guarantee that a photograph is unrecoverable from their infrastructure the instant a generation finishes, and we cannot control what a provider is compelled to retain by law.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. Because we do not keep your photographs or hold an account for you, there is usually nothing for us to return or delete — but you can still contact us at support@subsfan.com and we will respond within one month. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
Therian Shift is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has used the App, contact us and we will act on it.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details. Apple tells the App only whether a subscription is active.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected in the date above, and where the change affects how your photograph is handled we will ask for your consent again.
