Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 September 2026
Freshset (“we”, “us”, “the App”) shows you what a manicure would look like on a photograph of your own hands. This policy explains exactly what the App handles, where your photographs go, and what is kept. It describes the current iOS implementation.
Summary
- There is no account, no login and no password. We do not know who you are.
- To generate a look, your photograph is sent to a third-party AI provider outside the App. The App asks for your agreement before this happens.
- We do not store your photographs. They are passed through, edited, and returned.
- Your saved looks, saved inspiration pictures and onboarding answers stay on your iPhone.
- There is no analytics SDK, no advertising and no third-party tracking.
- We do not sell or rent your data. We do not use your photographs to train anything — but our AI provider handles them under its own terms, which we do not control.
Photographs, and where they go
The App only sends a photograph when you tap Generate. At that moment the following are transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our relay server, which is located in the United States:
- the photograph of your hand or foot that you selected or took;
- the inspiration picture you chose, if you chose one;
- the design text — shape, length, colour, finish and any wording you typed;
- a random identifier for your installation (see below).
Our relay forwards the images and the instruction to a third-party AI provider, which produces the edited image and returns it. The generated image is sent straight back to your phone. The provider is a large commercial AI platform; we may change provider as the technology changes, and if we do, this policy is updated.
Our relay does not write your images to disk and does not keep them. They exist only in memory for the seconds it takes to complete the request. We keep no copy of the photograph you sent or the image that came back — the only copy is the one saved on your device.
The provider acts as our processor and is bound by its own commercial terms and privacy practices. Those terms are not ours to guarantee: providers typically retain data briefly for operational and safety purposes, and we cannot promise on their behalf what they do or do not do with content submitted to them. What we can tell you is what we do — we keep no copy, we do not sell or share your photographs with anyone else, and we do not use them to train anything.
Because our server and the provider are in the United States, using the App involves an international transfer of your photograph out of the UK and the EEA.
If you decline the AI processing agreement, no photograph is ever transmitted. You can still browse the app, and you can change your mind later.
Faces and other people
The App is built for photographs of hands and feet. Please do not upload photographs of other people without their agreement, and do not upload photographs of children. Do not upload anything you would not be comfortable sending to a third-party AI service.
What is stored on your device
The App saves the following inside its own iOS sandbox, and nowhere else:
- the looks you generate, as image files, with the routine written for each one;
- inspiration pictures you have saved from the in-app browser;
- your onboarding answers — nail condition, usual shape, usual length, taste and skin tone;
- a random identifier created on first launch, used for rate limiting and to build your referral code — it is not your device's serial number, advertising identifier or anything Apple issues, and it cannot be traced back to you;
- your free-look count and subscription state.
Deleting the App removes all of it permanently. You can also delete individual looks and inspiration pictures from inside the App at any time.
What is stored on our servers
One thing only. If you redeem a friend's referral code, we write a single row to Google Firestore containing your randomly generated referral code, the code you redeemed, and a timestamp. That is the entire record. It contains no name, no email address, no device identifier issued by Apple, and no photograph.
If you never use the referral feature, we hold nothing about you at all.
Subscriptions and payment
Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple. Payment is taken by Apple, and we never see or receive your card details, billing address or Apple Account details. The App is told only whether a valid subscription exists.
The in-app browser
The Inspo tab contains a browser so you can find nail pictures. Pages you visit are served by those websites directly and are subject to their own privacy policies, not ours. We do not log your browsing, and we receive nothing from it unless you explicitly save a picture — which is then stored on your device.
Children
Freshset is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has used the App to send a photograph, contact us and we will help — although, since we keep no photographs, there is generally nothing held for us to erase.
Your rights
Because we operate no account and hold no personal data, most data-protection requests resolve themselves: the information is on your device and under your control, and deleting the App erases it. If you have redeemed a referral code and want that row removed, email us with the code and we will delete it.
If you are in the UK or the EU, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure and objection under the UK GDPR and GDPR. Contact us to exercise them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what happens to your photographs, we will update the date at the top of this page and ask for your agreement again inside the App.
